Recovering and returning to work
During your recovery and after you return to work, WorkConnections will:
- Help ensure that you receive sick time, Workers' Compensation benefits, or other benefits to which you may be entitled
- Facilitate communication with your physician and other health care providers and help you understand your options
- Develop and monitor a return-to-work plan with you, your supervisor, and your physician
- Interact with other university departments to answer your questions about benefits, employment status, salary, and any other issues related to your situation
- Explore options for assistance from other university resources such as the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP), UMHS Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Family Care Resources, and other University and/or community-based support programs
- Provide health resource information to you, as needed, and follow up on your medical progress
- Update you, your supervisor, and your physicians, as needed
- Answer your department's questions about a variety of issues, ranging from the expected duration of your absence to how your department can help you return to work safely
- Help evaluate what is required for your return to work and resolve any issues that may arise when you return to work
